What now?

To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it.

- GK Chesterton

As many of you know, I am going on PELP (Planned Educational Leave P-something) in Spring'08. This was a difficult decision for me. I have held on desperately to school, perhaps too desperately, and I don't have a good reason why, and perhaps the resouces would be better spent on someone else. I'm told I am entitled to those resources, but entitlement to resources does not mean I should use them. Thus I've decided to go on PELP, but still go to classes. It is my hope that not actually being enrolled will free up time and energy for other things. What other things? Preparing for prelims, giving more talks, writing these posts, cooking, and I'm sure I'll find other things.

Other things like hanging out!

I think this is an excellent plan, Josh. While you'll still fulfill your goal of learning maths and being involved in our little community you don't have to worry about pesky homework and exams. I'm glad you're going to stick around; and once again, I'm so proud of you and amazed at your determination and positive/considerate outlook on things.

Hope your break is going well. See you soon.

I look forward to hearing more about what you're doing during your Planned Educational Leave P-something! :) You're an AMAZING advocate, and I just want you to know how wonderful I think you are!! Thank you for BEING who you are, and for DOING what you do.
