Help Me Communicate

Believe it or not, but I have difficulty communicating (Shocking, huh?). I have decided to make improving my communication skills a major project for this quarter. I suppose one of the things I have to work on is asking for help. Thus as an exercise I'm asking all of you to help me with this project. Prompt me to communicate more, give feedback and suggestions on how I might communicate better, etc.

It's not too late to make new years resolutions is it? If not I'll call it a new years resolution, in addition to resolving to drink more this year.

Hey Josh, Just a note to say it's good to have a new goal of communicating more and asking for help from others! I follow your CB and pray for your healing each time I read the updates.I know about the BT world all to well as my husband has the same grade and type tumor as you do.Now about that other goal about drinking more--hmmm--just how does that work with anti-seizure meds,I wonder? My husband has already had his last martinis, trips up and down a ladder, etc, as soon as we got his news. Perhaps you were kidding about the drinking more??? In any regard, you are obviously brave and highly intelligent and very motivated to be back at school and following your dream! In the BT world we live in, we must make each day count to the max -- how's taht sound to a math person like yourself? Congrats on that-- going for the life at Davis you want, happy belated birthday and Happy New Year to you! From a Minnesota Mom who cares!

Hi, Josh. I think it's great that your new years resolution will be to try and communicate more. I think this blog is probably the perfect place!! I know I'd read every single time you update! As far as suggestions, are you looking for tips on VIRTUAL communication, or real-life communication? I'm big on e-communication, and really bad about real-life communication (**sigh**).

I know that getting out and about is key for real-life communication (which is why I'm so bad at it). Do you belong to groups, clubs, etc.? I guess that would be one thing you could try out.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else. I look forward to hearing what you come up with.

As far as drinking more this year ... I'm sure you mean water, juice, etc., right? :)

umm.. Yah, juice or something like that *whistle innocently*

I guess I mean communication overall but especially in meatspace. The net has long been my native language (since the early 90's - sometime I'll tell you about the good old days). To "get out" more is yet another part of why I returned to Davis. The Seattle area is _not_ friendly to disabled travelers.
